A 3 night stay in a Privilege room. The room was "compact" with a good bathroom but inadequate wardrobe/drawer space. The only shelf was above the hanging rail which only had 4 hangers. Bar lacks comfort & ambience. Hotel faces concrete walls of shopping centre but close to tram line to old city centre. We didn't eat here, had breakfast at Paul Cafe in SC. Probably not a hotel for an extended stay.

Reasonable hotel - fairly standard for its type. Clean room decent breakfast. Physical check in was slow, despite having done the online version in advance. No soap in the dispenser in the bathroom on day 2. Asked for it to be filled up at reception on the morning of day 3 (before housekeeping came round) but nothing happened. Short walk from the hotel to the tram stop for the line direct to the airport. Also a relatively short walk into the main parts of the old town - though the hotel itself is in a fairly unattractive corner of town.

Ok - but some basics wrong.

Average Mercure hotel. Good location in terms of proximity to old city and attractions, and good link to the airport, but in a rather run-down area. Good breakfast. Check in was slow - despite having done the online check-in in advance. No soap in the bathroom and, despite a request to reception in person, none arrived, so had to use our own.

We loved our stay. The only thing that would have made it more welcoming was to have a milk option with the tea/coffee that was provided in the room, either powdered in a sachet, or in individual cartons. My husband was fine as he drinks black coffee but I take milk in both my coffee and tea so I couldn’t have any which was disappointing. I know it’s a very tiny thing but it’s a very tiny thing to resolve too and would make a lot of guests very happy! Also the bathroom floor got very wet from the shower as I had readjusted the angle of the showerhead not realising that it was splashing beyond the shower tray and so I slipped on the bathroom floor even though I put a bathroom mat down. In the end I had to use towels to mop it up as there was so much water. A bit of a design flaw there somewhere, either in the shower head or the shower door. I skidded quite a few times so that’s quite dangerous. We’ve stayed at this hotel twice now, both times using the 50% family discount on a second room which is great value. The staff are very friendly and helpful too. We really like this hotel and happily recommend it. We will definitely stay here again when we next visit Bordeaux.
